Chile - Online formation meeting for pastoral coordinators
Santiago, Chile - June 2020 - On June 15, over 30 people participated in the online formation meeting of pastoral coordinators organized by the Youth Ministry Team of the Salesian Province of Chile (CIL). Fr Gildásio Mendes dos Santos, General Councilor for Social Communication, also participated in the event. In his presentation, he focused on how to better communicate the values of the Gospel in this period of world crisis, deepening three themes: the importance of communication in this moment of crisis of communication, listening, dialogue and respect; the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on politics and the economy, on the population that does not know what to do, which has changed the concept of individualistic happiness giving space to human fragility and vulnerability, to concern for others; use the Word of God to help reflect youth and adults. Furthermore, Fr Mendes invited those present to use art to communicate the Gospel - through music, dance, cinema and even sport; to believe in youth and not to be afraid of the digital world.
