Theological Formation of Salesians in India with Special Reference to Kristu Jyoti College Bangalore
Theological Formation of Salesians in India with Special Reference to Kristu Jyoti College Bangalore (1967-1976), places the shifting of the Salesian Studentate of Theology from Shillong to Bangalore in its historical perspective. Since setting up their theologate in Shillong in 1938, the Salesians were constrained, either by natural calamities or on account of wars, to move out temporarily to safer locations.
In 2006, when the Rector Major called for the congregation to “start again from Don Bosco to reawaken the heart of every Salesian”, Fr Ian Murdoch, an Australian Salesian priest, responded as a Salesian and a significant historian, by delving anew into the available material on the founder. His Provincial therefore felt he was ideally suited to preach all of the Spiritual Retreats across the Australia-Pacific Province in 2008. This book contains the conferences he gave at those retreats.
The Salesian Province of Tiruchy (INT) released a new book on Mamma Margaret in the Tamil language, authored by Father Dr John Dharmanathan SDB. The translated work, based on the highly researched work of Fr Teresio Bosco, “Vita di Mamma Margherita. La Mamma di Don Bosco”, published in 2005, is set in the background of the coming Synod.
Just when you thought you knew enough about Don Bosco, a new book with a fresh perspective emerges to tickle your mind: Don Bosco’s Peace Culture – a theory-based study of his response to conflicts (LAS, 2022, pp 468).
What better gift could we offer him for his 207th birth anniversary!!!
