Once again Biville: is it the same project as last year?
Like last year, we took up the idea from Don Bosco of offering the most committed young people a thorough educational experience. This year, however, the school directors wanted to emphasize the formation of CVL members, which are "student offices" within the school. Consequently, we had to completely revise the pace of activities, with two full days prepared by the young people. Furthermore, we have maintained our collaboration with the "Diamond" association, a school for life on the seashore, which offers educational stays for young people in relationship or behavioral difficulties. We then had the opportunity to have a sailboat on which every young person could sail.
Were you able to adapt to this change of perspective?
To be honest, at first we didn't believe it, because the profiles of the young people who came were very varied indeed. Still, the project went very well and the stay was a great success. In fact, the typically Salesian atmosphere allowed everyone to find their own proper place, to leave their mark and give the best of themselves. In the end, this mix of profiles was the most precious ingredient for reaching our goal: to form young people to make decisions and take responsibility with regard to their school.
What were the most important moments of this experience?
What makes Biville truly magical are undoubtedly these large dunes and the beach below. We were lucky enough to have nice sunshine, but for some young people the heat and physical complications made the effort challenging. Yet all of them participated in the games and activities prepared and proposed by their classmates.
