Accompanied by his secretary Fr Horacio López, the Rector Major will arrive in Vancouver, Canada, on 3 September. From there, he will go to Surrey, where on September 4 he will meet the SUE Provincial Council. He will pray with the members of the Salesian Family. New members of the Salesian Cooperators will be making their promises. In the evening, the Rector Major will participate in the youth festival and spend time with the young.
On 5 September, Fr Á.F. Artime, after the parish Mass, will bless the FMA House and leave for Toronto. On September 6, he will meet the Salesians, the Salesian Family and then participate in the celebrations of the Salesian Youth Movement and of the 30th anniversary of the "Summer Daze Camp". Then at the "Monsignor Johnson High School Gym", the Rector Major will listen to the sharing of the personal experiences of the young people of today's Canada, followed by a talk with them.
On 7 September the Rector Major goes to Montreal and the next day shall preside over the meeting with the Salesian Family.
Unfortunately, the visit cannot continue to the United States because the Rector Major has not been authorized for the "Electronic System for Travel Authorization" of the USA, routine for European citizens exempt from the ordinary visa. The reason is his previous pastoral visit to Syria. Several members of the Salesian Family of SUE and SUO made great efforts and attempts to resolve this situation so the Rector Major could enter the United States, but it was not possible without an ordinary visa of the consulate in Rome or Madrid, with a timetable possible in the month of August.
Then,, for a meeting with the provincial council of the United States West (SUO), the Rector Major will travel from Montreal to Tijuana, Mexico, where on September 10th he will meet the SUO Provincial and his Council. He will then return to Rome in advance.
