Fr Mauro Mantovani, ordinary professor in the Faculty of Philosophy, was born in Moncalieri, province of Turin, on 3 January 1966. He has been a Salesian since 1986 and a priest since 1994. He received a Doctorate in Philosophy from the Pontifical University of Salamanca, Spain, and a Doctorate in Theology at the Pontifical University of St. Thomas Aquinas "Angelicum". After being Dean of the Faculty of Philosophy (2006-2012) and of the Faculty of Sciences of Social Communication (2012-2015), and Vice President of the UPS (2009-2015), he began his first three years as Rector on 15 July 2015. Since 24 October 2016, he has been President of the Conference of Rectors of the Roman Pontifical Universities (CRUPR).

(ANS - Rome) - The Vatican Congregation for Catholic Education, with a rescript dated 3 July 2018, in response to the request of the Grand Chancellor of the Salesian Pontifical University (UPS), the Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, appointed Prof. Mauro Mantovani, SDB, as UPS Rector for a second three-year term (2018-2021).
