Organizing the event, taking place from Monday 27 November to Friday 1 December at the hotel "Weare Chamartin" (calle Agustín de Foxá, Madrid), is the Dicastery for Salesian Youth Ministry.
The Congress is chaired by the Salesian Rector Major, Fr Ángel Fernández Artime, accompanied by the General Council of the Congregation. Also present at the opening ceremony: the Cardinal of Madrid, Msgr. Carlos Osoro; the Apostolic Nuncio in Spain, Msgr. Renzo Fratini; Msgr. Bruno Forte, Archbishop of Chieti-Vasto and Special Secretary of the two Synods of Bishops dedicated to the theme of family, as well as representatives of public administrations.
The congress has three main objectives. "'Read' today's family; carry out an ecclesial and spiritual reading of the family; propose, strengthen, integrate into the Salesian Youth Ministry, pastoral attention to the family and its role in the Salesian mission within the Salesian Educational-Pastoral Project," the organizers explained.

Via the congress, the Congregation intends to explore the issue of Youth Ministry and the Family, and to be considered in a framework of special interest on these issues by the Church, after the Synods on the Family, the publication of the Apostolic Exhortation "Amoris Laetitia", and prior to the forthcoming Synod on Youth.
