Italy - 80th Anniversary Celebration of Congregation of Sisters of Charity of Jesus
Rimini, Italy - September 2017 - On September 27, at the parish church of Maria Ausiliatrice in Rimini, assigned to the Salesians, the Sisters of Charity of Jesus, convened to commemorate the 80 years since the foundation of their female religious institute of Pontifical Right, founded in Japan by the Salesian Fr Antonio Cavoli, native of San Giovanni in Marignano (1888 - 1972).. Present were the Mother General Teresa Furuki, the General Counsel, 6 superiors, 5 nuns studying in Rome and 2 sisters working in the General House of the congregation, which has 950 sisters distributed across 15 nations. Several relatives of Fr Cavoli also participated. The Mass, celebrated by the Salesian pastor, Fr Mauro Soru, was preceded by a slideshow that briefly illustrated the history of the congregation. Before the celebration, the group had visited, on September 26, the birthplace of Fr Cavoli, and on September 25 were in Faenza to visiti the birthplace of Fr Vincenzo Cimatti, co-founder of the Congregation.
