Portugal – Archbishop Francisco Senra Coelho presides at the ordination to diaconate of Salesian Samora Marcel
Évora, Portugal – January 2025 - The ordination of young Salesian Samora Marcel to the diaconate was celebrated on 5 January in the church of Our Lady Help of Christians, in Évora. Archbishop Francisco José Senra Coelho, Archbishop of Évora was the ordaining prelate, and the Mass was concelebrated by Fr Tarcízio Morais, Superior of the Salesian Province of Portugal (POR) and by various priests and members of the archdiocesan clergy. Samora Marcel is originally from Timor-Leste, where he was born in 1991 and where he began his formation. In 2017, the Salesian arrived in Portugal where he continued his formation according to the collaboration protocol that, since 2012, has been in force between the Portuguese Province and the Timor-Leste Vice-Province. He made his perpetual profession in the Salesian Congregation in 2019. In recent years he joined the Salesian community in Évora and attended the Higher Institute of Theology.
