El Salvador – 5th Meeting of the Province of Central America Salesian Family under the banner of fraternity and reflection

16 October 2024

Ayagualo, El Salvador - October 2024 - With a deep sense of identity and belonging to the charism of Don Bosco, the Salesian Family (SF) in the Province of Central America (CAM) held its 5th Meeting at the Sacred Heart Retreat House from 11 to 13 October. This day, marked by fraternity and reflection, took place five years after its last congress, held in 2019 in Costa Rica, in the presence of the late Fr Eusebio Muñoz, Central Delegate of the Rector Major for the Secretariat of the Salesian Family. The event, which brought together 50 members of different SF groups from all over Central America, was a favourable opportunity to revive the bonds of unity and strengthen participation in the common mission of building the Kingdom of God through the charism inherited from Don Bosco. The participants reflected on the synodal journey they share with the Church and the Salesian Congregation, with the aim of walking together in synodality, strengthening networking and the sense of shared mission. There was also reflection on topics such as Youth Ministry and the SF, the vocational culture in the SF and the elements of SF identity. Each country had time to present best practices carried out by the different groups: meetings on Salesian identity, spiritual activities but also best practices in formation and apostolate. The day ended with a renewed commitment to continue contributing to the development of the Salesian mission in the region, through the profound experience of the charism and the strengthening of the bonds between the members of the SF.
