America – Preparatory meeting for the face-to-face summit "URU 2 - CFP (VET) America"

(ANS) – The Central Commission of the of the Salesian Vocational Training Centres (VET Centres) in America, together with all the heads of these VET Centres, is preparing for the face-to-face meeting to be held in Uruguay from 21 to 25 October 2024.

The heads of the CFP (VET) are continuing through remote meetings their path of consolidation on the network, and are preparing at the same time the meeting scheduled for this month in Uruguay, focused on the quality of the educational proposal, following the guidelines of the Sector for Youth Ministry in relation to the Vocational Training Centres of the Salesian Congregation.

The Youth Ministry Sector has developed a new, updated and significantly expanded edition of the Vocational Training Centres part of the Youth Ministry Framework (2014), which traces the path of reflection and practice of recent years in the Salesian Congregation around the relevance, identity and educative and pastoral work of these Salesian presences.

On this occasion, the team comprising the heads of the Provinces of America is working on a content and methodological proposal that allows them to continue growing in terms of identity, formation, educational project and the educative and pastoral community, so that their proposal remains current and focused on the needs of young people for the world of work.

America currently has great potential for growth in the sector of work centered on the person of young people, supported by educational communities at various levels, both in the context of the work emergency, and in a systematic approach to networking, and connection with the environment and the business world. In this way, it will be possible to have formation and career plans that are constantly updated and oriented to current needs, not only of the continent, but also in large sectors of work with global companies.

Poverty, informal jobs, emerging migration situations, sustainability and sustainability, the integrity of proposals, skills for the world of work are currently some of the main challenges that Vocational Education and Training faces, and they are all issues that must be continuously addressed and that will find a new opportunity for discussion in this new upcoming face-to-face meeting.
