Italy – 7th edition of the Salesian Spiritual Accompaniment School

22 August 2024

(ANS – Turin) – The 7th edition of the School of Salesian spiritual accompaniment for Italian – Spanish – Portuguese – French-speaking participants began on 19 August, and will end on 21 September 2025. Currently, the 24 participants come from 16 different countries and 19 provinces (CIL, BCG, BRE, BSP, CAM, BOL, ECU, PER, POR, UPS, ILE, INE, ICC, CIN, THA, AFC, ATE, ANG, ANN).

The school aims to prepare Salesians to be spiritual guides with a basic knowledge, understanding and healthy appreciation of spiritual accompaniment according to our Christian and Salesian tradition and acquire the skills necessary to discern one's inner dispositions, deepen one's prayer life and one's response to the Lord in daily life, so as to be able to accompany others through the same process.

Currently the participants are on a study tour of the places of Don Bosco around Valdocco with the desire to learn Don Bosco's experience of receiving and offering spiritual accompaniment that leads to an experience of vocational and pastoral discernment responsive to the signs of the times. After Valdocco, the participants will go to Avigliana for their retreat, and finally they will be at Colle Don Bosco.

The school is led by a team from the formation sector namely: Brother Raymond Callo, Father Guido Errico, and Father Jose Kuttianimattathil, and two simultaneous translators namely Brother Fernando Saade (for Spanish speaking) and Father Gerard Umoh (for French speaking).

We hope the school will be of great help to the participants in their service of spiritual accompaniment for our young people especially those in formation.
