Ecuador – July 2024 - The Salesian Communication Office (CSO) in the Salesian Province of Ecuador (ECU) carried out a second animation visit in 2024 to the community of Machala and the San Juan Bosco Educational Unit in Zaruma with the aim of motivating and accompanying the work of young communicators in these places. The visits, held on 3 and 4 July, focused on Pope Francis' message for the 58th World Day of Social Communications 2024: "Artificial Intelligence and Wisdom of the Heart: for fully human communication". During the meeting with young people, Pope Francis' appeal to communicators to use AI responsibly was shared, underlining the importance of combining it with the wisdom of the heart to generate a positive impact on society. This appeal resonated deeply among the participants, who were invited not to close themselves off in the world of social networks and AI, but to strengthen the encounter and dialogue with their family and friends. The development of this theme is in line with what has been established within the Overall Provincial Plan (OPP). Hence the activities were aimed at fostering a critical sense of the current communication tools and putting into practice the teachings that Don Bosco left to save the souls of young people.
