This is a booklet intending to be a tool to keep alive the historical and spiritual memory of the holiness that flourished at the school of St John Bosco, presenting the liturgical calendar of the Salesian Family and the dates related to the path for ecclesial recognition of the holiness of numerous brothers and sisters who at different times have enriched the history of this charismatic Family.
It is also a reference to learn about the various stages that mark the processes of Beatification and Canonisation: from the Inquiries on virtues, martyrdom and miracles, to the various ecclesial recognitions such as Venerability, Martyrdom, Beatification and Canonisation.
Finally, it aims to be a sign of recognition and gratitude for those who over time have dedicated energy and resources to accompanying the numerous Causes of Beatification and Canonisation of the Salesian Family. Behind each Cause are people who in a hidden and sometimes little recognised way have allowed and supported the process to Beatification and Canonisation.
This simple tool can also be useful to remember how holiness belongs to the DNA of the one holy, catholic and apostolic Church. The saints are the spiritual compasses that point humanity towards God. They are also the true benefactors of humanity, because they improve it, propagating it with their charity and goodness. The knowledge and timely implementation of canonical procedures have the task of tracing and highlighting the work of the Holy Spirit in the hearts and minds of men and women flooded with grace.
"It is essential to remember," the Postulator General of the Causes of Saints of the Salesian Family, Fr Pierluigi Cameroni, said "both to preserve a heritage that is growing over time, and to share experiences, reflections, contributions that enrich the journey of each and of the numerous groups of the Salesian Family".
At the bottom of the page it is possible to view and download the Salesian hagiographic calendar in Italian.
