South Sudan – The Youth Synod of Salesian Presences
Juba, South Sudan – May 2024 – The Saint Josephine Bakhita Delegation from Sudan and South Sudan brought together young people from all Salesian presences in South Sudan, at Don Bosco Gumbo in Juba. A total of 120 young people from Maridi, Tonj, Wau, Kuajok, Morobo and Gumbo gathered to participate in the Youth Synod, held from 13 to 18 May under the theme: "The dream that makes you dream. A heart that transforms ‘wolves’ into ‘lambs’”. Fr Paul Antimi, SDB, Delegate for Sudan and South Sudan,opened the meeting, which also involved representatives of the entire Salesian Family in South Sudan. Those present were then involved in numerous activities and were called to reflect on various issues, including how to rejuvenate the dreams of young people through the life of Don Bosco; the role of the family, society and the Church in the realisation of young people's dreams; what kind of Church is dreamed for South Sudan and how young people can contribute to the growth of Catholic spirituality; the Instrumentum Laboris from the perspective of young people; the role of men and women religious in the world and the Eucharist in the lives of young people.
