Valera, Venezuela – February 2024 – The Extraordinary Visitation to the Salesian Province of Venezuela (VEN), by Fr Hugo Orozco, Councillor for the Interamerica Region, continued from 25 to 27 February in the community at Valera. On 26 February he shared the traditional good morning messahe with the children of the school  in which he stressed three important aspects to be happy young people: friendship with God, curiosity, and always playing. After a day of dialogue and accompaniment with the Salesians, he met with the parish community at the end of the Eucharist. In the meeting, the Regional Councillor offered advice, testimonies and guidelines to maintain the path of Salesian synodality in the parish. The Valera community gave Fr Orozco some postcards and a key ring depicting Blessed Dr. José Gregorio Hernández to accompany him on his travels. The following day began with a cultural exhibition of the school's children. Dances, songs, poems, which in the words of Fr Orozco "are an example of the beauty of which Jesus speaks to John in his Dream at 9 years of age." The Regional Councillor continued with the accompanying dialogues with his confreres and in the afternoon he had a meeting with the school's animation team. Among questions, advice and anecdotes, he stressed the importance of being an educator in Salesian life. Subsequently, Fr Orozco met with the Salesian Family in the city bringing some words of encouragement from the Rector Major. After the Mass he had a meeting with the young leaders of the Salesian Youth Movement,  reminding them of the importance of keeping moving, vocation, formation and above all closeness.
