Venezuela – Extraordinary visitation of Fr Hugo Orozco to the community at Puerto La Cruz, in an atmosphere of closeness and fraternity
Puerto La Cruz, Venezuela – February 2024 - The Extraordinary Visitation of Fr Hugo Orozco, Councillor for the Interamerica Region, to the Salesian San Michele Arcangelo community in Puerto La Cruz took place from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 February. The opening of the visitation took place on the evening of 15 February: a climate of closeness and fraternity has permeated the Salesian community since the arrival of the Councillor, and action guidelines and the programme were the fruit of this evening. On Friday 16th, in the morning, Fr Orozco gave the "Salesian good morning" to the students at Pius XII school, urging them to "be friends of God, to always learn and never stop playing." This was followed by a meeting with the school's animation team, encouraged by the Councillor to continue its important work. In the afternoon Fr Orozco celebrated the Eucharist in the parish of La Santa Cruz, urging Salesians, young people and lay people to work in synodality, all of which are necessary in the Church of Christ. Then, addressing the Salesian Family, he encouraged everyone to promote a vocational culture. Dialogue with each of the Salesians was the priority for this day and part of the following day. On Saturday 17th, the Regional Councillor met the Salesian Youth Movement in the afternoon, in the "DIMISAL" (Salesian Missionary Disciples) experience. Finally, he celebrated the Eucharist in Divino Niño Parish and participated in the meeting of the Pastoral Councils and the animation teams of the two parishes entrusted to the community. The visit ended with the Sunday Eucharist.
