Fundación Teletón has opened a Centre for Integral Rehabilitation in the city of Minga Guazú, which will care for and help 500 children and adolescents. It was built on the 16,000 m² donated by the Salesians..
The Centre for Integral Rehabilitation, the fourth of its kind, was inaugurated in the presence of volunteers and beneficiaries of the foundation, by the President, Horacio Cartes, along with other authorities. Fr Dionisio Medina, SDB, spoke to all present and blessed the new building.
The Executive Director of the foundation, Andrés Silva, highlighted the importance of helping those in need, especially children and adolescents who have disabilities. He said that thanks to the Salesians they can now benefit from a service accessible to them.
The new centre is 20 km from Minga Guazú on Road 7. It will be of benefit to hundreds of families who currently have to travel up to seven hours to reach the nearest suitable centre.
The new centre has a building for visitors, rooms for hydrotherapy, physiotherapy, a multi-sensory room, occupational therapy, a multipurpose hall for meetings and various other facilities.
This achievement was made possible thanks to the contributions of the citizens, the Salesian Province of Paraguay and the Itaipú Binacional company, and the collaboration of volunteers and of the City of Minga Guazú.
The mission of the Fundación Teletón is to develop integral services for progressive rehabilitation at national level, for people with disabilities and their families by promoting an inclusive society and coordinating the efforts of various sectors of the community, through events, campaigns, programmes and initiatives.
