India – The Salesian Province of Calcutta organises an International Youth Festival
Siliguri, India – January 2024 – The Salesians of the Province of India-Calcutta (INC) has organised an International Youth Festival from 26 to 28 January . It took place at the Don Bosco school in Siliguri, based on the theme "The dream that makes you dream". The event was attended by about 700 young people from twenty-four Salesian parishes in Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar and neighbouring countries of Bangladesh and Nepal. The young participants were involved in numerous sessions and activities, including in-depth studies of the chosen theme, debates on addictions, young people and the environment, quizzes on Don Bosco and moments of prayer and recollection. The festival also included a cultural evening that allowed young people from Hindi, Bengali, Sadri, Santhali and Nepalese language groups to showcase their talents. Among the guests of honour who attended the event were Archbishop Vincent Aind, archbishop of Ranchi, Fr Joseph Pauria, INC Provincial, Fr Sunil Kerketta, Vice-Provincial, Fr Patrick Lepcha, Director of Youth Animation for the South Asia Region, and Air Force Major Giffin George, who gave a motivational speech.
