Fr. Domingos was born in 1961 in a Catholic family in Macau. Later in 1981 he joined the Salesian novitiate and made his first religious profession in 1982. In 1985 he did his philosophical studies in Newton, New Jersey, U.S.A and his theological studies in Hong Kong. He was ordained a priest in 1993. In 2001 he went to Italy to do his Licentiate in Liturgy at the St Anselm University, Rome.
After his initial formation, he has served the Province in different leadership roles in various communities, focusing on the formation of young confreres and teaching in the Seminary of Hong Kong and in others places. He has been the Vice-Provincial and Delegate for Formation since 2018 till date.
The dream of Don Bosco came true when the first Salesians came to China in 1906. Since then, the seeds of the Salesian charism has been spreading out to different parts of South East Asia like Vietnam (currently a Province with 2 Delegations), the Philippines (2 Provinces - North and South) from where the Salesians reached to Papua New Guinea, Pakistan and Malaysia. A number of them have received the gift of martyrdom (St. Luigi Versgilia and St. Callisto Caravario) and there are others in the process of beatification (Fr. Carlo Braga and Fr. Andrew Majcen, Servants of God).
With such a glorious history of Salesian growth and impact in China, amidst numerous trials and difficulties, the Salesians have courageously witnessed to the Salesian mission and built it up. Hearty congratulations to Fr. Domingos as he leads the Salesians and members of Salesian Family in China, to continue the mission that Don Bosco dreamt.
