The booklet consists of three chapters and 111 pages and refers to "The Salesians of Don Bosco on the way to a sustainable world in the light of integral ecology", the positioning document that responds to the guidelines established by the Salesian Congregation in General Chapter 28, and that follows in a profound and reasoned way the appeal of Pope Francis contained in Laudato Si'.
This educational contribution, guided by chapter decisions towards building a more sustainable world, is presented by Dr. Emanuela Chiang, head of the Integral Ecology area in the Youth Ministry Sector at Rome headquarters, and adds an essential element to the project.
Her inspired words invite us to take a new path within the Salesian mission, recognising that all young people share the same planet and that any event on Earth has a direct impact on their lives.
The document addresses the ecological crisis with an integral perspective and its various articles address different aspects, from those that are purely ecological to those related to them in all other sectors: economic, social, educational, pastoral, spiritual and formative. The text thus offers a complete perspective on contemporary challenges in caring for the environment.
The work was carried out by the editorial committee led by Freddy Araya, Executive Coordinator of Youth Ministry, together with Lorena Basualto, Coordinator of the Evangelisation and Catechesis Area of the Province. In addition, Giselle García-Hjarles, Fabiola Herrera, José Peñailillo, Vanesa Páez and César González also contributed as external consultants.
