Jaboatão dos Guararapes, Brazil - November 2023 - In the heart of the Centre of Jaboatão dos Guararapes, a significant and inspiring milestone was celebrated with enthusiasm and gratitude: the 80th anniversary of the Don Bosco Educational Centre-Oratory. The Salesian work is a beacon of education and values, accompanying generations and saving lives for eight decades. The celebration of these years was a time to reflect on the achievements, the challenges overcome and, above all, to renew the commitment to the mission of educating, forming and preparing young people for a promising future. The co-workers, who are fundamental to the journey and continued success of this Salesian house, were honoured and recognised for their tireless commitment to welcoming, educating and guiding children, teenagers and young adults. All 21 Rectors - priests, who have managed with charisma and dedication over the years, creating a history of reference in service and transformation, were also honoured. The celebrations also included recreational activities for some 80 children, teenagers and young adults from the community. Fr Francisco Inácio, Superior of the Salesian Province of Brazil-Recife (BRE), celebrated the Eucharist. In his homily, he emphasised the significant contribution that the Don Bosco Educational Centre has brought to the region during its eighty years of existence.
