What is the composition of 'Laudate Deum'?
It consists of six chapters:
- The Global Climate Crisis
Pope Francis warns that climate change is undeniable and its effects are becoming more and more evident. - The Growing Technocratic Paradigm
The fact that nature is not a resource to be exploited indefinitely and a demand to recognise that unbridled ambition is not ethically sustainable is highlighted in this chapter. - The Weakness of International Politics
The Holy Father emphasises the urgent need for global cooperation through new multilateral agreements between states, because current and past approaches are obviously insufficient to tackle the phenomenon of climate change. - Climate Conferences: Progress and Failures
Pope Francis encourages individual countries to overcome their selfish positions in favour of the global common good. - What is expected from COP28 in Dubai?
Looking forward to the next Conference of the stake holders to be hosted by the UAE, it is hoped that 'those who will speak will be strategists capable of thinking about the common good and the future of their children, rather than the vested interests of a few countries or companies'. - Spiritual Motivations
The Holy Father invites people of all religious denominations to play an active part. He also reminds Catholics that we have a responsibility to care for God's creation in the light of faith and that this implies respecting the laws of nature and recognising the beauty and richness of Creation.
