As per tradition, the opening day will involve two stages, the church and community stage and the academic one.
At 9:30 (UTC+2) there will be a Eucharistic concelebration presided over by Cardinal Fernández Artime at the Parish Church of Santa Maria della Speranza, (Piazza Fradeletto), adjacent to the university campus.
At 11 a.m., in the Paul VI Hall at the University, the opening academic ceremony will take place, with an address by Monsignor Giovanni Cesare Pagazzi, Secretary of the Dicastery for Culture and Education, on the theme "Living at the Threshold. Frontiers of the human being and the experience of God".
The theme of the address will also be the guiding thread for the activities of the new academic year and, as the Rector Magnificus of UPS, Fr Andrea Bozzolo, explained, “it is an evocative theme: living at the threshold means that with our cultural commitment we seek to deal with the deeper anthropological human questions of our time to discover all its dimensions and make it a place inhabited by the Gospel.”
As part of the opening ceremony there will also be time for a report on the past academic year and the delivery of awards to distinguished lecturers and students in their respective roles. The event will end with a fraternal agape.
