Ecuador - Inter-institutional Cooperation Framework Agreement between Salesians and Ministry of Education
Quito, Ecuador - September 2023 - The Minister of Education, María Brown, and Fr Luis Mosquera, ECU Provincial Economer and legal representative of the Salesian Society of Ecuador, signed a Framework Agreement for Inter-Institutional Cooperation on 28 September at the Provincial House of the Salesians of Ecuador (ECU). The agreement will enable the coordination and planning of future actions to strengthen educational innovation, teacher training and pastoral education processes carried out in Salesian Educational Centres (CES). At the beginning of the event, Fr Mosquera thanked the Minister for his willingness to sign the agreement in favour of Salesian education in the country, and ratified the commitment of the ECU Province to continue to contribute to the educational transformation that benefits especially the most disadvantaged sectors. Fr Juan Flores, President of the National Council for Salesian Education (CONESA in Spanish), emphasised that the main winners of this agreement will be the 29,000 students housed in Salesian educational institutions, as they deserve a quality education that will lead them to be today's Ecuador: "Through this agreement we want Salesian education, with its values, knowledge, and perseverance, to continue to form those whom the Lord has entrusted to us" he said. For her part, the Minister of Education indicated that the agreement will not only benefit the students of CES, but also allow them to learn from the experiences of Salesian education and support the improvement of the educational quality of institutions throughout the country.
