Croatia - Salesianity Days in St John Bosco Province
Zagreb, Croatia - September 2023 - For several years now, the Salesians of the St John Bosco Province of Croatia (CRO) have been organising the Salesianity Days, which this year were concentrated into a single day due to the busy schedule of events. On 1 September, almost 60 Salesians, representatives of all the Salesian communities in Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina, together with those who are temporarily in Germany, gathered together. After a moment of prayer, the Provincial, Fr Tihomir Šutalo, presented the day's programme, stating: "All of us Salesians in the Province want to discover and do God's will." The members of the Provincial Council then presented the different Sectors of the life of the Province. This was followed by a discussion and Eucharistic celebration, presided over by the Provincial. Then, after a short break, the work of the assembly resumed with an address from Fr Šutalo, who presented some information on life in the Province and the most important events in the coming pastoral and school year. In this Province, Salesians work in nine parishes and three school communities in Zagreb, Rijeka and Žepče. One Salesian is a student chaplain in Zagreb; another in Zadar, and as of this year is also the diocesan officer for youth ministry work; and another is a student chaplain at the State Military University. After a moment of dialogue, the representatives of the individual communities of the Province presented their own communities and the work of the Salesians. This year's meeting was made special by the presence of numerous young Salesian trainees and students who are scattered throughout the year in various Salesian communities in Bosnia, Croatia, Italy, England and the Holy Land.
