The ceremony, conducted by the Rector, Fr Juan Bustamante, and the Principal, Héctor Ramírez, was attended by professionals, parents and guardians of the program, as well as members of the educative and pastoral community.
During the opening, the great work of the team of professionals, psychologists and psychopedagogists of the PIE was highlighted, led by Karla Ruidíaz, Coordinator of the program. The new hall, which is located next to the covered gym, received a blessing, just before the usual ribbon cutting, which took place in the presence of the authorities and representatives of the school.
Héctor Ramírez then stated that this initiative marks an important milestone for the inclusion of students with special educational needs and stressed how improving infrastructure can lead to more inclusive education.
For her part, Karla Ruidíaz stressed the importance of this room for the integral development of students, both in educational terms and in terms of physical and personal well-being.
This initiative came about from the need that Professor Iván Cabezas, head of the ACLE (Curricular Activities of Free Choice) had to have an academy for students of the PIE program. The Psychomotor Development academy takes place in this room and is run by physical education teacher Daisy Díaz, who has experience working with children with autism spectrum disorders.
