D.R. Congo – Salesian Cardinal Cristóbal López Romero has preached the annual Retreat for Salesians from AFC Province

04 August 2023

Kansebula, D.R. Congo – July 2023 - Salesians of Don Bosco from the Province of Central Africa (AFC), have experienced their annual retreat held for two different groups, under the guidance of the Archbishop of Rabat, Salesian Cardinal Cristóbal López Romero, from 16 to 22 July and from 23 to 29 July respectively, at the formation house in Kansebula,  The Cardinal explored the question of "vocation" developed through various aspects such as: Christ, the inventor of retreats; called to live by following Jesus; called to proclaim and build the kingdom of God; called to consecrated religious life; called to reconciliation; called to celebrate and become Eucharist; called to live in holiness like Mary. The main sources that formed the basis of the Salesian Cardinal's teaching were the Word of God (the Bible), documents of the Second Vatican Council, the Salesian Constitutions and General Regulations, as well as many other documents regulating Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life. The depth and richness of the material presented by the Archbishop of Rabat are also the result of his many experiences of living in God and being faithful to his vocation. Taking advantage of Salesian Cardinal's presence for the first time in the country, the Salesians organised a programme to present him with the panorama of Salesian works. At the end of the Retreat, a meeting was organised at the bishopric in Kafubu, between Cardinal López Romero and Bishop Gaston Ruvezi, Salesian Bishop of Sakania-Kipushi, and another meeting with the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians at the Lycée Kwesu in the Kafubu valley.
