Poland - 19 volunteers from Don Bosco International Volunteers receive their missionary crosses
Warsaw Poland - June 2023 –On 11 June the Don Bosco International Volunteers completed their training at the Salesian Mission Centre in Warsaw, receiving their missionary crosses. In a few days these 19 young people will leave for mission posts to follow their vocation, to which they felt called, and to bear witness to their faith. The Holy Mass began at 11.30 a.m. in the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Warsaw. Fr Tadeusz Jarecki, Provincial of Warsaw was main celebrant. After the homily, each of the volunteers was introduced by Fr Jacek Zdzieborski, Director of the Warsaw Mission Office, then the Provincial handed over missionary crosses to the young people. Five young people will go to Africa and South America for long-term voluntary work, and 14 will go on short-term missions of up to four months. Each of them is driven by a strong need to be with those in need and to give what they have. A week earlier, on 3 June, during the 27th Youth Meeting in Lednica, five missionary volunteers going on long-term missions to Zambia, Ethiopia and Bolivia received their crosses from Archbishop Wojciech Polak, Primate of the Church in Poland.
