Fr Á.F. Artime will land in Bucharest at mid-day and will be immediately accompanied to Constanta where the first Salesian house in the country was opened in 1996. After an initial greeting to the whole community and the recitation of Vespers, the Rector Major, with his secretary, Fr Horacio López, will participate in an event organized by the young people who attend the Salesian centre.
On the morning of Saturday 1 October there will be a celebration of the twentieth anniversary with a show by the young people and the screening of a video about the three works in Romania and Moldova (Constanta, Bacau and Chisinau) and speeches from the Rector Major and others.
The afternoon will continue with a dialogue, first with the young people and then with the local Salesians, and then with another item demonstrating the inculturation of the Salesian charism. At the Eucharist the newly ordained priest Bogdan Bayes will preside while the Rector Major will concelebrate and give the homily. Deacon Andrei Laslau will assist. Both young Salesians are in fact Romanians.
Later in the evening there will be a festive meeting with the young people.
On the Sunday morning the tenth Successor of Don Bosco will meet with representatives of the educational and pastoral communities of the three works and with the Salesian Cooperators. Then he will concelebrate the Eucharist together with Archbishop Ioan Robu of Bucharest and, before leaving, he will preside at the ceremony of blessing of a statue of Don Bosco in the playground of the Salesian Oratory.
