Brazil - Manaus City Hall pays tribute to Shrine of St. Joseph in appreciation of its work on behalf of the people
Manaus, Brazil - April 2023 - A solemn session in honor of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Archdiocesan Shrine of St. Joseph and its social works was held on April 14 at the "'Plenaria Adriano Jorge" hall of the Manaus Municipal Chamber. The proposal was made by Councilor Daniel Amaral de Vasconcelos, who paid tribute to the shrine in the person of its pastor, Fr. Jose Ivanildo, SDB. The event was attended by agents and pastoral leaders, as well as a children's choir who also performed for the occasion. According to Amaral, the tribute was decided to highlight the shrine's work on behalf of the Amazonian people. The shrine, which began as a social activity, has been associated with the Salesian Industrial School since the 1940s, with the goal of evangelization and education on a human and professional level. The 75th anniversary celebrations began last Feb. 5, the date of issuance of the episcopal decree that gave rise to the parish, and more social and commemorative activities are planned in the near future.
