Dominican Republic – Salesians develop new strategies with "Community Managers"

19 April 2023

(ANS - Santo Domingo) - On April 15 and 16, at the Salesian Agronomic and Technical Institute (IATESA) in La Vega, and at the "Pinar Quemado" center in Jarabacoa, communication representatives of the Antilles Province (ANT) and its several works celebrated the second edition of the "Assembly of Local Communication Delegates."

During the weekend, the communication delegates and Community Managers of the works met to bolster the communication network of the Salesians through the exchange of know-how, a celebration of activities and challenges, and participation in workshops to help communicators in the Salesian world and the management of social networks. The houses represented were: Barahona - Cristo Rey; Jarabacoa; La Vega - Domingo Savio; La Vega - IATESA; Mao - Corazón de Jesús; Santiago - IPISA; and from Santo Domingo - Don Bosco Educational Plaza; Corazón de Jesús; María Auxiliadora; and the Provincial House.

On Saturday morning, after arriving at the IATESA center and celebrating the first activities, the different delegations were introduced to the activity by Father José Pastor Ramírez, ANT Provincial. Afterward, each house formally introduced its members to the remaining attendees, and they were also able to present a video explaining the achievements and challenges of each communication work. The day ended at the "Pinar Quemado" center, in Jarabacoa, after a talk on "Speaking from the heart, 'in truth and love,'" given by Francisco Alberto Pérez, Executive Director of the Salesian Bulletin; and the celebration of the "Communication Fair 2023," coordinated by Héctor Mojíca, Executive Director of "Radio Juventus Don Bosco."

The next day, April 16, after the meeting, the "Handbook for the Administration of Social Networks" was officially presented by the head of the Press Office, Alejandro Piña, and there was then a discussion on the main contents of this intervention. The groups attending also did a final activity in which they had to put into practice everything they had learned during the different presentations.

In the end, after the Mass presided over by Fr. Jose Almonte, a statuette of recognition was given to the houses that achieved the best results during the practical activities. Once again, the meeting proved to be a valuable time for learning, sharing, and exchange of experiences.
