Brazil – New web series presents detailed lives of Servants of God Fr. Rudolf Lunkenbein, SDB, and Simão Bororo

17 April 2023

(ANS - Campo Grande) - "Lembranças entre amigos" (Memories among friends) is the title of the new series visible on the YouTube channel dedicated to Servants of God Fr Rudolf Lunkenbein, Salesian missionary in Brazil, and Simão Bororo, indigenous catechist. In this new series, Brazilian Salesians Father Luiz Alves de Lima and Father João Bosco Maciel tell stories and peculiarities of the lives and personalities of the two Servants of God, who were martyred in the Salesian presence in Meruri, Mato Grosso, on July 15, 1976. Both gave their lives for indigenous peoples and their right to land.

The series is divided into six episodes that will be launched regularly every 15th of the month, on the monthly occasion of the Day of Prayer for the Recognition of their Cause of Martyrdom.

The artistic coordinator of the series, S. Vinícius Martins, explained how in 2022 the team promoted the spread of the Cause with the help of media resources, such as the launch of a collection of songs, unreleased and re-recorded, and podcasts. "We closed these projects in March and launched the trailer for the series, opening this new project 'Lembranças entre amigos,' which will run until February 2024," he said.  He added that the proposal is for the YouTube channel to function as a "virtual museum," gathering information and various content on the history, life, and cause of the Servants of God.

For Father Maciel, who is also the Vice-Postulator of the Cause of Martyrdom, the project is an opportunity to grow and sustain devotion. "It will be useful to increase and strengthen the devotion, as well as make our Servants of God Father Rudolf Lunkenbein and Simão Bororo better known and loved. Watch it, enjoy it, and help us share it," he said.

The first episode was launched last April 15 and is available on the YouTube channel dedicated to Servants of God.

An illustrative trailer is also available in the same series.
