Khliehriat, India - March 2023 - During the Extraordinary Visit to the Salesian Province of India-Shillong (INS), Fr. Biju Michael, Councilor for the South Asia Region, inaugurated the "Centenary Block" of Khliehriat Senior Secondary School in Khliehriat, in the East Jaintia Hills region of Meghalaya District, on March 30. The "Centenary Block" was built in memory of the centenary of the arrival of the Salesians in the Northeast and Jaintia Hills region and is dedicated to Fr. Enrico Fantin, SDB, who began missionary work in the parish in 1976. The dedication ceremony began with words of welcome from the Principal, Br. Solomon Swer, Salesian Coadjutor, followed by several speeches from the students. Fr. Michael praised the missionaries who gave all they had for the cause of the poor and oppressed in the region. He urged those present to follow their example, especially to be of service to the youth, especially the poorest. Fr. George Maliekal, former INS Provincial, Fr. Ioannis War, pastor, and many other priests and religious of the parish were present for the occasion.
