That said, neither the intense cold nor the stifling heat has ever stopped the Rector Major in his willingness to meet the Salesians and be among young people. After intense work and meetings in Argentina, the Rector Major soon left for the city of Piura, where hundreds of young people, students, parents, and members of the Salesian Family were waiting for him.
It was an intense day: meetings, celebrations, participation, and celebration of Mass, and thousands of photographs taken with the boys and girls that will remain in history.
On arrival from the airport and after a frugal coffee, the 10th Successor of Don Bosco took part in a meeting with more than a thousand young people. He told them his personal story. "The Lord has a dream for each one of us and if we do not prevent it, that dream will come true," he said. Afterward, he had a meeting with the Salesians of the Salesian Institute and the Bosconia Youth Center, in the presence of the Provincial Superior of the Santa Rosa Province of Peru, Fr. Juan Pablo Alcas.
At 3 p.m., in front of the center's gymnasium filled with over 3,000 participants, including parents and young people, he celebrated Mass, during which he invited people to listen to the voice of God, who speaks to every individual. Then, at the end of the celebration, he crowned the image of Mary Help of Christians.
Afterward, until 10 p.m., he participated in a festive program with singing and dancing. "I want to tell you that I live in Turin," he told the thousands of participants, "where it is possible to visit Don Bosco in the Basilica; well, every time I pass in front of his urn I pray for you."
At the end of the celebration with the 10th Successor of Don Bosco, no one missed the opportunity to take pictures together to keep as a souvenir of this great day.
