At the "John Paul II" Conviviality House in Lima, the Rector Major and his Councilors will gather with the Provincial Councils of the 13 Circumscriptions (12 Provinces and one Vice-Province) of Interamerica, totaling about 90 Salesians: U.S. East (SUE), U.S. West (SUO), Mexico-México (MEM), Mexico Guadalajara (MEG), Antilles (ANT), Central America (CAM), Venezuela (VEN), Colombia Bogota (COB), Colombia Medellin (COM), Ecuador (ECU), Peru (PER), Bolivia (BOL) and Haiti (HAI).
The Rector Major and his team shall work with the Region's Provincial Councils to examine the state of the Inter-American Region, help the Circumscriptions recognize and embark on the Congregation's journey, promote the Circumscriptions' and the Region's sense of belonging to the Congregation, assume a shared mentality, carry forward the policies outlined in the last General Chapter, and consider the Region's specific situations to propose some lines of development.
The work begins on Tuesday evening, March 28, with a reception and welcome to all participants. On Wednesday, a day moderated by Fr. Morachell Bonhome, Superior of HAI, the Rector Major will offer an introduction to the work to be done and an overview of the Congregation's journey at the global level. This shall be followed by a talk by Fr. Orozco aimed at briefly illustrating the current state of affairs in Interamerica. In the two afternoon sessions, Fr. Ivo Coelho, General Councilor for Formation, and Fr. Miguel Angel García Morcuende, General Councilor for Youth Ministry, will lead the reflection on consecrated identity and Salesian life.
Thursday's session, moderated by Fr. Líder Justiniano, BOL Provincial, will feature two major areas of discussion: vocation accompaniment and animation, by Fr. García Morcuende, and Fr. Maravilla, General Councilor for Missions; and shared mission with the laity and the Salesian Family, through reports by Fr. Gildasio Mendes, General Councilor for Social Communication, and Fr. Joan Lluís Playà, Central Delegate of the Rector Major for the Salesian Family.
Finally, Friday, March 31, will be the last day of the Team Visit. The activities, coordinated by Fr. Ignacio Ocampo Uribe, MEM Provincial, will see in the morning a discussion on the theme of redesigning the circumscriptions and the formation of communities, led by the Vicar of the Rector Major, Fr. Stefano Martoglio, and by Fr. Coelho; and in the afternoon a talk, again by the Vicar of the Rector Major, on the theme of collaboration and synergy in the service of the Congregation.
After careful observation and meetings with the various teams, the Rector Major, with his Councilors, will deliver closing remarks.
