Vietnam - Lenten retreat for young people in Ho Chi Minh
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam - March 2023 - Lent is a precious time to prepare for Easter through prayer, repentance of sins, charity practices and fasting. Often, however, people are so busy in their daily lives that they neglect their faith. Thus, last March 11, the Commission for Youth Ministry of the Salesian Province of Vietnam organized a Lenten retreat for young people to guide them in a reflection on their lives. The theme chosen was "Leaven" and clearly refers to the Rector Major's Strenna 2023: "AS THE YEAST IN TODAY'S HUMAN FAMILY. The Lay Dimension of the Family of Don Bosco." The retreat, which was held at the "Don Bosco Ben Cat" community in Ho Chi Minh City, was attended by many young people, catechists and faithful from Salesian parishes in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and from diocesan parishes in Go Vap district, also in Ho Chi Minh City. Fr. Peter Nguyen Viet Quang Minh, Provincial Delegate for Youth Ministry, meticulously organized the program, which included moments of reflection, prayer, sports, entertainment and a musical performance. Finally, Fr. Joseph Nguyen Kim Khanh, VIE Provincial Vicar, dismissed those present, reminding them of the importance of always being of the "good leaven."
