Madrid, Spain - March 2023 - On March 10 at the Hilton Airport-Madrid Hotel, 250 girls and boys from Carabanchel, Puerta del Sol, Alcalá de Henares, Fuenlabrada and Parla, who are members of the "First Professional Experience" program, gathered for the first "FestiPEP." The festival for young people at First Professional Experience (PEP in Spanish) was a day for the protagonists of this project to meet and connect with their peers and companies through a series of workshops, group activities, motivational talks, and various opportunities to get to know each other and make contacts. The program is an initiative of the Salesian Social Platform "Pinardi" and the Community of Madrid, which seeks to address the problem of youth unemployment with an innovative methodology and to study its impact. The project, "First Professional Experience," offers access to the world of work to 400 young people between the ages of 18 and 29 in a vulnerable situation, who have not finished compulsory schooling or have not continued their studies, and provides companies in Madrid with the opportunity to discover hidden talents for their workforce. During this period, a team of Pinardi professionals motivated and accompanied the young people in the acquisition of skills, and in turn, the companies designed training paths adapted to their needs. In this way, the First Professional Experience program seeks an inclusive approach to training and learning, breaking down the barriers that often exist between young people and companies.
