Spain - Guadalajara City Council awards Silver Medal to Salesian theater group
Guadalajara, Spain - March 2023 - On March 3, the City Council of Guadalajara approved the awarding of its City Medals for 2023, which acknowledge special merits, qualities or circumstances of people, groups and institutions. On the occasion, they awarded the Guadalajara Salesian theater group with the Silver Medal for its work over two decades through offering free musicals in the city. These were works "of the highest quality, which have involved hundreds of young people in theatrical culture, in the value of the word, in values related to culture and also in hard work," pointed out Guadalajara Mayor Alberto Rojo. "It should be noted," Rojo added, "that these musicals are not only performed altruistically and enjoyed free of charge, but also contemplate charity performances, also pursuing social goals." The "Salesianos Guadalajara" theater group was established in 2001, when it was decided to revive and enhance theatrical activity in the school and the city of Guadalajara on a nonprofit basis. It currently consists of more than 130 people, including students, parents and alumni of the Salesian school.
