Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic - February 2023 - On February 24, the Councilor for the Inter-American Region, Fr. Hugo Orozco, arrived in Santo Domingo to begin, on behalf of the Rector Major, the Extraordinary Visit to the Salesian Province "St. John Bosco" of the Antilles (ANT). Upon his arrival, Fr. Orozco was welcomed by the ANT Provincial, Fr. José Pastor Ramírez. The following day, the Regional Councilor attended his first meeting with the Provincial Council. In the afternoon, he went to the Salesian Technical Institute for the official opening of his Extraordinary Visit. The event was broadcast online for Salesians unable to travel, including Salesians from Cuba and Puerto Rico. In his presentation, Fr. Orozco highlighted the purpose of his visit, which is intended to make the document and spirit of GC28 known, as well as to intensify communion among the communities and of the Provincial community with the path of the Congregation. This is the first time that Fr. Orozco is making the Extraordinary Visitation to the ANT Province; however, he personally knows many of the Salesians, especially those who completed their studies in Mexico, his native country. The Extraordinary Visitation will end on May 17, 2023.
