Over 600 young people from various centers of the Salesian Youth Movement (Huancayo, Chosica, Breña, Arequipa, Ayacucho, San Lorenzo, Piura, and Rímac) gathered in the gymnasium of the Salesian Institute "Santa Rosa da Lima" and shouted in unison, "Viva Don Bosco! Long live Don Ángel! Long live the youth of Peru! We love you, Don Ángel, we love you!" It was a great day, in which enthusiasm, joy, dance, gratitude, but above all the spirituality of Don Bosco and the Salesian charism shone through.
A few minutes before his entrance, the boys and girls of Peru prepared to welcome the 10th Successor of Don Bosco in the best possible way. They greeted him, in fact, with a cheerful and creative flash mob. Then, after a few moments of elation, the open and frank dialogue with the Successor of Don Bosco took place.
Before starting the conversation, the new Provincial of Peru, Fr. Juan Pablo Alcas, addressed the young people, telling them to feel privileged to be able to experience these moments. "This moment belongs all to you. Many of us have worked for you; feel happy, because the Lord loves you with all his heart."
For his part, Fr. Á.F. Artime began with words full of energy and enthusiasm for the young participants: "I dream that Peruvian youth can make Peru a more beautiful country. You have a beautiful country, a beautiful culture, a marvelous Latin American warmth, which makes me fall in love with you. We need young Christians with a Salesian spirit capable of many things: of commitment, of service, of professionalism."
Don Bosco wanted his boys to live everything with great intensity, that is, to live each moment as if it were the most important thing. This is why Don Bosco's 10th Successor again told young people, "Everything must be lived with absolute youthful intensity. Let us live with true Salesian passion."
A youth cultural evening was then held that was appreciated by all, especially by the Rector Major, who enriched his vision of Peru.
