D.R. Congo - Over 900 people at AFC Province's Strenna Day.
Lubumbashi, D.R. Congo - January 2023 - On January 8 at the "Cité des Jeunes" in Lubumbashi, the Strenna Day 2023 of the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, was held under the title "AS YEAST IN TODAY'S HUMAN FAMILY. The Lay Dimension of the Family of Don Bosco." The event, chaired by Fr. Guillermo Basañes, Superior of the Central Africa Province (AFC), was attended by Sr. Rosa Wilox, Vicar of the Province of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, and more than 900 people including Salesians, members of the various groups of the Salesian Family, students of the various works and friends and supporters of Don Bosco. The presentation of the Strenna 2023 was by three speakers: Salesian coadjutor Br. Innocent Musumba and by Antoinette Mukanu and Fidèle Musanshi, two lay collaborators of the Salesian work in Salama. In addition, the assembly viewed reports from the various branches and components of the Salesian Family of Central Africa. Fr. Basañes then presided over the Eucharist during which he exhorted the participants to be "star and leaven in the world." Recreational and cultural activities presented by the youth and Sister Wilox's "Salesian goodnight" concluded the day.
