The inauguration was attended by the ARN Provincial, Fr. Horacio Barbieri SDB; José Vicente Conejero Gallego, Bishop of Formosa; the Rector of the city’s Salesian work, Fr. Alejandro Musolino SDB; the parish priest, Fr. Guillermo Estavilla; Fr. Santiago Cieschi and Br. Walter Fernández, SDB; the director of the Work Training Center, Carmen Dambra; with teachers, students and members of the community at large.
The Training Center has an area of 228.28 m2. It includes study modules, a covered housing module for multifunctional offices, bathrooms, green spaces, and a kindergarten area for the care of children while their mothers are busy in classes or at workshops.
On this occasion, Fr. Barbieri said, "We are convinced that work is the best tool to foster social integration and give dignity to people. Today the Salesian community, attentive to the needs of all, is called to take charge, through concrete actions, of the needs of our contemporaries. It is our desire to value the personal dignity of every human being and to be custodians of the inalienable rights of each person."
Some of the courses that will be offered at the center are: Maternal and Child Care Assistant, Gerontological Assistant, Event Organization, Computer Science, Tailoring, Microenterprise Start-up, Aesthetics, Hairdressing and Design.
The new building was made possible thanks to funding from a number of collaborating entities, among which the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the German government and the "Don Bosco World" Mission Office, based in Bonn, Germany, are especially worth mentioning.
The new building complements the existing Vocational Training Center, which for 55 years has offered boys and girls the opportunity to dream of a better future through a range of educational opportunities.
Salesian work in Formosa is thus celebrating the opportunity of a new building that expands its offerings from a gender perspective, to provide accompaniment, support, and training to female students, allow them to grow professionally, and offer useful experiences in the search for new job opportunities.
