Ecuador - Young people showcase their knowledge at Salesian Educational Fair

Guayaquil, Ecuador - October 2022 - As part of activities to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Salesian National Education Council (CONESA), the Salesian Educational Fair was held on October 6 and 7 at the facilities of the "Domingo Comín" educational unit in Guayaquil. The event was attended by 120 students from 16 Salesian Educational Centers (CES), who exhibited their best projects in the scientific, technical, and interdisciplinary fields. On the opening day, Fr. Ángel Lazo, Vicar of the Salesian Province of Ecuador (ECU), together with Fr. Wladimir Acosta, president of CONESA, Marco Vinicio Arias, Director of the Ximena 01 District of the Ministry of Education, and Dr. Allyson Luna, of the Guayaquil City Council, cut the opening ribbon of the fair. Also present at the opening ceremony were the Vice Chancellor of the Guayaquil UPS office, Rectors, Vice-Rectors, teachers, students, and parents. The purpose of holding this activity was to celebrate the path traveled by Salesian educational institutions and networking through a space where the protagonists are the students and they themselves share their innovative ideas with society. During the event, there was the accompaniment of 20 mentor teachers, 10 authorities and 5 SDB leaders. Some of the projects presented were: biofuel alcohol from banana; survival of the mussel and its benefits for the salty Guayaquil estuary; biological respiration and technological digitization; the hydraulic compactor for recyclable elements with automation and photovoltaic system; implementation of alternative inclusion and assessment processes for an alternative school for a population with school delay and vulnerability.
