India – Don Bosco Ranchi provides job opportunities for socially and economically backward youth

06 October 2022

(ANS – Ranchi) – “Don Bosco Job Placement Network”, Ranchi, initiated labour market information among the youth searching for jobs and organized six placement drives with job opportunities for more than four hundred youth.

Don Bosco Ranchi aims at decent jobs with safer and secure migration. Youth who are skilled, semi-skilled and un-skilled were provided job opportunities under various job profiles.

“Jharkhand and its surrounding area are known for its cheap labour migration paving the way for modern slavery and labour exploitation. There is no platform for the young job-seekers for job market information, and they mostly depend on the job information provided by brokers or so-called agents. Thus, most of them land up in mismatched jobs under the exploitive situation,” said Marcus Minj, placement coordinator, Ranchi.

However, it was quite a difficult road to travel during the time of Covid-19, but slowly, through interventions, young people gained confidence. They are given career guidance and labour market information suiting their profile. They are made to understand that proper education and skill upgrading can pave the way to better job opportunities. Don Bosco, Ranchi, is a blessing to the youth in the region, providing varied formal and non-formal skill training. Apart from this, direct job referrals through placement drives are carried out.

Don Bosco Ranchi maintains a good rapport with the industrial partners from different sectors like manufacturing, hospitality, customer services, health services, financial services, IT/ITes, etc. One of the services is “Support Services” to the young people who migrate for jobs to Chennai, Bengaluru, Delhi, etc. The regional coordinators assist young people and ensure they are safe and secure in their places. The support service team follows candidates regularly.

Don Bosco Job placement services at Ranchi help migrant job seekers towards a formal labour market with decent work and safe and secured social integration.
