The title of the assembly echoes a thought Pope Francis expressed during his homily for World Day of the Poor 2021: recalling Fr. Tonino Bello, the Pontiff emphasized how Christians must translate hope into concrete life, every day.
During the three-day Assembly there will be round tables and workshops for discussion and in-depth analysis with key social, civil and ecclesial figures, with Italian and European youth and social welfare policies, and with ecclesial and Salesian indications; there will also be space for listening to social experiences from the various Italian territories, for the presentation of the Social Report 2021 of Salesians for the Social, and for planning for the period 2022-2023.
"After the fall of the government and the announcement of general elections on September 25, we are in the midst of an election campaign. Once again we are called to responsibly exercise the right-duty to vote for the construction of a society that is increasingly supportive and inclusive, attentive to young people and the fragile. For this reason, the September assembly will be the beginning of a bottom-up process of writing the association's programmatic document that will last for a whole year with meetings in the territory," said Fr. Francesco Preite, president of Salesians for the Social.
"The project aims to stimulate and promote moments of training, as well as processes of collective reflection and sharing, in line with the most recent national and European regulations and paying specific attention to the rights of minors, the living conditions of young people and their protagonism," added Andrea Farina, Salesian Observatory Coordinator for the Rights of Minors.
