Brazil - XXVI Provincial Chapter of Salesian Province of Recife
Jaboatão, Brazil - July 2022 - Under the presidency of Fr. Francisco Inácio Vieira Júnior, Provincial of the Salesian Province of Brazil-Recife (BRE), the XXVI Provincial Chapter of BRE is being held July 27-29. The assembly takes place at the Jaboatão Meeting House with the presence of 29 chapter members and 13 observers, including Salesians in initial formation, lay people, and representatives of the Salesian Family. Archbishop Limacêdo Antônio da Silva, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Olinda and Recife, presided over the opening Mass at the Basilica of Our Lady Help of Christians in Jaboatão. In the opening session, the chapter assembly welcomed the message of the Rector Major, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, via video, as well as that of the America South Cone Region Councilor, Fr. Gabriel Romero. Always seeking greater harmony with the path of the Congregation, Salesians and lay people, in three commissions, are working on three themes: Charismatic Identity, the Young Poor, and the Joint Mission. At the end of the Chapter, in the same location, the celebration of the Provincial Community will begin with the presence of Salesians in initial formation and communities, as well as the Chapter members of Salesians celebrating significant anniversaries of profession and ordination.
