In his address to the digital Salesians, he articulated very clearly the dangers of media addiction that are affecting both the mental and physical health of children and youngsters in a special way. With his vast experience in the field and drawing inspiration from the various cases he has handled, he was able to communicate very clearly the causes, effects and remedies for media addiction. The session was very informative and useful.
India - Digital Salesians learn to fight/combat Media addiction
India - 9 June 2022 - The members of Boscom South Asia, tuned their attention to “Digital Addiction” as part of the Salesian School of Social Communication, as Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, from NIHMANS, Bangalore shared his expertise. The Communication Department of Salesian Congregation is organizing a continuous session on various topics of media as part of the SSSC (Salesian School of Social Communication), Rome. Experts from various disciplines in media share their thoughts and views. On June 9, 2022, the Boscom members attended the session on “Media Psychology: Understanding Digital Addictions, its implications and possible approaches”. The resource person was Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma, Professor of Clinical Psychology, NIHMANS, Bangalore. Founder and coordinator of SHUT Clinic (Service for Healthy Use of Technology), India’s first tech deaddiction clinic, member of WHO group on addictive behaviours and lancet group on gambling. He has brought out articles for public awareness in print media and is credited with research papers on technology use in national and international journals. He received an international fellowship from ICMR.
