Austria - Second session of Provincial Chapter
Vienna, Austria - June 2022 - From May 29 to June 1, the second session of the Provincial Chapter of the Salesians of the Province of Austria (AUS) was held in the Don Bosco House in Vienna. Seventeen chapter members from all Salesian presences in the country discussed current challenges and defined the province's strategic goals for the coming years. On May 30, Msgr. Stephan Turnovszky, Auxiliary Bishop of Vienna, celebrated Mass with the chapter members, encouraging them in their commitment among young people. Also present at the celebration were young representatives of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM), who thanked the Salesians for their work and, in a text entitled "Dreams of Youth," asked the Salesians to accompany and promote the youth as much as possible. "The mission that always remains valid for us Salesians of Don Bosco is to strengthen the youth," said Fr. Siegfried Kettner, Provincial of the AUS Province. The latter also cited as good examples the new residential communities "Ruth" and "Jakob" for young refugees, created by the Don Bosco Social Work, and the SYM musical "One-Way Street," written and staged several times in 2021 by 30 youth and young adults. Finally, he said he was satisfied with the progress of the Provincial Chapter: "A great consensus was perceptible. The strategic considerations help us protect existing works and face new challenges."
