Father Maria Arokiam led the assembly into prayer, following which Father Savio Silveira welcomed the gathering; and Father Godfrey D’Souza, the Salesian Provincial of Mumbai presented Father Maria Arokiam a floral bouquet. Father Provincial then welcomed the salesians, reading article 104 of the Constitutions.
Father Maria Arokiam then addressed the gathering focusing on the concerns of the congregation as set down by the Rector Major and the General Council. He emphasised the need to live genuine religious lives and dwelt on the required expectations from each of the individual communities.
Post-conference, Father Maria Arokiam released the book, ‘Revolution of Tenderness' authored by the scholastics at Divyadaan, edited by Sharmeela De Vaz and published by Tej-Prasarini, Don Bosco Communications. Father Maria Arokiam complimented the brothers for writing significant reflections and stories on the theme of Mercy. He enumerated that as Salesians, the Publishing of a book is of prime importance and it has great benefits for readers across the world. “This is a good souvenir for the Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy” he said.
He also released the SDBWest edited by Father Valerian Pereira.
