(ANS - Fátima) - From May 20-27, the Councilor for the Mediterranean Region, Fr. Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy, is visiting the "St. Anthony" Province of Portugal (POR).

Last weekend, May 21 and 22, Fr. Juan Carlos Pérez Godoy presided over the National Pilgrimage of the Salesian Family to the Shrine of Fatima. First, in the Chapel of Apparitions, he presided over the ceremony of greeting Our Lady and welcoming pilgrims from the Salesian Family. Then, in the late afternoon of the first day, he attended the national meeting of the youth of the Salesian Youth Movement (SYM).

On Sunday morning, in the Good Shepherd Hall of the Paul VI Center, the Salesian Family gathered for a moment of formation led by Fr. Pérez Godoy. On the occasion, the Regional Councilor noted "that the present and the future of the Salesian mission pass through the Salesian Family" and, he recalled that "there is no future if we do not strengthen communion in the Salesian Family." Hence, he emphasized the importance of each person's responsible commitment and invited everyone to do their part in this regard.

On Monday, May 22, Fr. Pérez Godoy continued his visit by reaching presences in Mogofores, where he met with Salesians from the local community and those who had come especially from Porto.

On Tuesday, May 24, the Regional Councilor presided over celebrations for the Feast of Mary Help of Christians at the Salesian work in Lisbon. Following this, he was able to make a brief visit to learn about the most recent Salesian presence in the POR Province, that of Setúbal.

The next stop on his trip was Funchal, where Fr. Pérez Godoy experienced moments of encounter and dialogue with both young people and local Salesians.

Today, Friday, May 27, the last day of his visit, the Regional Councilor is dedicating it to a gathering for reflection and discussion with the Rectors of the Salesian houses of the Province.
